THE CARBINER

New Year, New Engineer, New Hope

Hobart Formula 1 aspirant Alex Peroni heads into the 2020 Formula 3 racing season with optimism after signing with the Campos Racing Team for another year.

Alex proudly carries the Carbine Club logo on his helmet in recognition of the support he has received from the Carbine Club of Tasmania which helps young Tasmanians to pursue their sporting dreams.

Following the horrific accident in Italy last year, Alex has endured months of rehabilitation followed by fitness and strength conditioning in time to prepare for the 2020 Formula 3 racing season in Europe. Alex is feeling very well and his fractured spine has fully recovered.

After a disappointing level of competitivity from the Campos Racing Team cars in 2019 they have recruited a very experienced engineer who will be looking after Alex and bring considerable experience that is expected to lift car performance. This is a key reason for re-signing with Campos after receiving a number of offers from other Formula 3 teams.

Alex began his driving career at just 7 years of age driving carts and began competing internationally when he was 9 years old. The Carbine Club of Tasmania has been supporting Alex since his progression through the Formula Renault Development Series where he became the first Australian to win a single seater championship in Europe. He has since advanced through the Eurocup Championship and in 2020, Alex will be spending his second year in Formula 3, just two levels from his dream of driving at the highest level of open wheel racing in Formula 1.
